Now that I have came back from cold winter Seoul to warm winter Hawaii, I am very happy to be back home. Though there are things that I miss and wish it was in Hawaii.
I will forever cherish my study abroad experience, friends I met, and all the memories in South Korea.
I've made a list of the top 10 things to do, eat, and see while in Seoul.
THINGS TO DO:
1) Stroll around, bike, order delivery, cook ramen at the Han River
2) Take a trip outside of Seoul (Busan, Gyeongju, or Jeju)
3) Go snowboarding or skiing during the winter
4) Sing your heart out at a Noraebang (Karaoke)
5) Shop at underground subway shops
6) Go to a Jimjilbang (Sauna) and drink slushy Shikhae (rice punch)
7) Visit any animal cafe to relieve stress
8) Rent Hanboks and take pictures at the palaces
9) Attend music concerts
10) Visit amusement parks and buy headbands
THINGS TO SEE:
1) First Snow fall in Seoul
2) Busking/Street performances in Hongdae
3) Statue of Admiral Yi Sunshin and King Sejong at Gwanghwamun Square
4) Traditional Houses at Bukchon Hanok Village
5) Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon
6) Lanterns and Light show at CheongGyeCheon
7) Starfield Library at Coex Mall
8) Any Museum in Seoul (personal favorites: War Memorial and National Museum of Korea)
9) A traditional performance at the National Gugak Center
10) Frozen Jaha Pond during the winter at SNU Campus
THINGS TO EAT/DRINK:
1) Steak at Ugly Stove Gangnam
2) Boong-uh-bang (Red Bean filled street food - perfect snack during the winter)
3) Street Food (anything sold at Myeongdong and Gwangjang Market)
4) Yookhoe and live octopus at Gwangjang Market)
5) Mara-Tang (Chinese dish: similar to Aunty Ramen in town)
6) Tarts at Cafe Mignon near Seoul National University Station
7) A whole meal at a convenience store (put you chef skills to the test)
8) Dumplings at Changhwadang in Ikseon-dong
9) Boba at Heuk Hwa Dang
10) Traditional Rice Wine (Makgeolli)
